Nosler .257 100 gr partition

I can't get my 257AI old Ruger 77 to shoot anything over 100 grs to satisfy me. I use the 100 gr Hornady sp , and does kill well, but the bullet is totally destroyed. How does the Nosler 100 gr partition work for those that use them? Barlow

I had a .257A.I. with a 1-12 twist that I shot 85gr. ballistic tips in for prairie doggin'.. I wanted to see if I could use it for deer hunting, so I tried the 100gr Hornady InterLock. it was VERY accurate and was screaming out of the barrel at 3300f.p.s. I shot a doe with it through the heart / lung area. It killed like lightening.. However, it blew a frightful hole out the off-side! It "jelled" much of the meat on the area around the impact point. There is little doubt of the effectiveness of the Hornady bullets on whitetail>> I can only assume that the Partitions would react much the same way. Having said all that, I only have one shot and one kill on a smallish Texas whitetail doe.. Not very much to go on>> But there is no doubt about the effectiveness of the .257A.I. with a bullet designed for the intended animal>>>on deer sized game..

if it doesn't work, i would go with 115gr nosler ballistic tip. as soon as i get the money, i'll build a 257 bob ai.

The partition is an awesome killer and holds together well, unlike the Hornady Interlocks. I also use the Partition in my 6.5's. in 140g . I have shot the 100gr. partition in my 25/06, 257 Weatherby, and 250 Sav. . At speeds up to 3500fps, it punches right through deer. Meat distruction is minimal, but I like a pass through for big game. A pass through provides an excellent blood trail! Bullets recovered from wet newspaper tests show at least 50% weight retention.

Think it might be a good choice.

Used to use them in my 6mm Remington when I hunted with it. Worked well. Switched to Hornady Interlocks with the same good results.

In my 257's, the regular 100 gr. bullets like Ballistic Tips, Sierra and Speer, did not seem to hold together well. I never tried the Partition though. Went to 115 Nosler BT's and it's been game on.

My guess is the Partition or even the regular Hornady Interlock would work fine.

The partition will do a good job for you. A Barnes TTSX will be better usually both on accuracy and definitely killing shock. I shot a lot of partitons for years and they are an excellent bullet until I tryed a Barnes.

I was digging around in my bullet stash and found 6 Nosler 100 gr pt. I have no idea where I got them. I'll load them up and give them a try. Thanks, Barlow
