I have shot at Capitan range about a mile outside of Capitan, New Mexico. It is, without a doubt, the toughest range I have ever shot at or even heard of! Winds can and DO top 30m.p.h. at nearly every match! Great people, laid-back atmosphere and close to picturesque Riudoso! Great place to shoot at, especially at the State / Regional events..

Fun place to shoot. If you're over 5'5" tall, duck when you go into the cinder block target shed.
Best match around. Unfortunately it's cancelled in February do to snow and mud. Should be back online in March!

I know it was August and October last year. Those dates sound about right.. I get my info from John (Cognac Jack) and we both sign up together. John's wife is a very gracious lady letting him go with the likes of me! LOL!!

I finally got up. After I came to. I bet there's still a dent in that cinder block. I still have the scar on my forehead.
Del Norte club at Rio Rancho NM holds F class and other matches. It is just NW of Albuquerque. Roswell has 600 yard F class. I also agree that Capitan is one of the most challenging ranges. I also have to duck entering the target shed. Matches are 1000yds on first Saturday April-October. First weekend in August is 2 day regional and first weekend of October is NM state championship. You don’t have to be a state resident to win state champion.

The Rocky Mountain Palma and Santa Fe Regional are moving from Raton to Byers this year also. You can shoot F class at sling matches also. The problem that I see, is that they are changing the time of year. It was in July and I hoped to shoot this year. It is now going to be September, and too close to F nationals.
Last week in August for them but do wish they were earlier. Guess its a perk of only living about an hour from the range. The dates are good with me.
