Northern Idaho?

It has nothing to do with population increase, iITS LITERALLY AN INVASION in Idaho and Montana.
What people don't seem to understand is Schools, roads and infrastructure are falling dismally behind by the big influx.
The biggest problem is Taxes, crime, traffic while the people that have been here cant keep up, your 15.00-20.00 dollar an hour job ain't gonna cut it.
Housing prices are soaring IF you can find one. Theres so many people moving from the Left coast being able to work at there high paying job from home were they came from, they just better hope they don't have to start living on MT and Idaho wages or they will have a big reality check.
Just say “Hell no” to high speed Internet!

i have a buddy who's looking to make the move . great to hear it's a red state. i'd hate to be visiting one that will be asking for your papers someday.

We lived at Cold Springs Creek in 1961. Great fishing and tons of elk. I was there again in 1972 but have never been back. We used to fish on the Little North Fork before the dam was built. A good hike to get there but great fishing. WH

My next trip I would like to try the Little North Fork, I understand its a little hike down to the river, is there only the one road into there?

You just described EVERYTHING that comes with a population increase. This has been happening for decades, and is nothing new.

When I left OR and WA for the USAF in 1983, both states were good conservative places to live. When I moved back to Oregon in 2007, both OR and WA were heading for a cliff because of liberals moving in and voting for progressive policies. They have now run me out. ID is the last place in the PNW that is Conservative and I will fight to keep it that way.
I really don't blame you for leaving those places, I did almost 30 years ago and don't regret it for a second. Its just sad to see it going the same way N.W washington did when I left.
I guess we've just got a different definition of population increase.
My best advice for people moving here is when in " Rome do as the Romans".
Here's a prime example why out state plates are hated here, guy pulls in to McDonald's going wrong way parks in the angled parking spaces crossways and gets out of his truck and walks in.
HERES YOUR SIGN!!!

All but the lower 5 miles or so of the Little North Fork (30 miles long) is still free-flowing.

Yes. I know that. The problem with the dam was that it eliminated the steelhead run up the Little North Fork. Adolescent steelhead made up most of the fish population as well as being the food source for the big Dolly Varden and cutthroat which lived there. I have not gone back since but I understand the fishing is still pretty decent and the short stretch we fished back in the day is still difficult to access and probably not hit too hard. Perhaps blueback have supplanted the steelhead as a food source. We caught some big cuts out of Crater Lake as well. WH

Here's one decent source for information.

"Turn Layers On/Off" -> "Reference Layers" -> "Roads and Trails"

This will add roads and trails to the interactive map.

The river is light blue in this screen shot. The "Automobile" roads (solid purple) that reach the river are numbered 301 and 1268. The "Jeep" roads (double dashed purple) are 1925 and 760.

These idiots keep approving these huge multi-thousand home developments in the CdA/Post Falls area and there's no end to it. The people here pretty much have no say in it and the approval of these monster developments rests with a handful of local bureaucrats. I'm going to enjoy it here though as long as possible and hopefully I'll be in the ground before it all turns demcom. There aren't many free areas left anymore.

Let's not let it turn demcom.

I wish there was a way to tell.

We need to explain to the new arrivals how progressive policies always lead to decline. We need to help them connect the dots that is was progressive policies in their last residence that drove them out, so let's avoid that here.

The problem with moving here (CDA) is there is nothing to buy, if you do find something it will be vastly overpriced.
It can't last forever, maybe rent for awhile.

The problem i see with that is, like the guy i saw drive into the McDonald's parking lot, or the person i see 2 ft off somebodys bumper or weaving in and out of traffic.
They dont care, bring all the big city B.S with them and don't even bat an eye about it.
Its like a lady from California said to me about 6 months ago, you dont understand what its like were from California I responded do you know were you woke up this mourning?

There is no bubble. These prices are the new normal and will continue to increase. They will eventually level off but they aren't coming down.

Things always change. Little towns become medium cities and medium cities become big cities. The population increases and encroaches. We can never go back, only forward. Anyone over 40 should know that very well. Nothing ever stays the same. So we either adapt and overcome or we whine and are bitter.

A housing bubble popped in 2008. I know there were extraordinary circumstances behind it, but how can one say definitively it won't or can't happen again?

Thank You VERY much!

In 2008 it was a combination of excess inventory and government backed mortgage securities--bundling and high risk loans and all that. None of that is going on now.

We have very low inventory, high demand, and buyers have to actually be well qualified.

I am told that even Dave Ramsey says there is no bubble......

Chances are the newbies coming from blue states to Idaho, especially Northern Idaho, are primarily conservative like me. There are a lot of warmer weather places libs can escape to from Cali. They are flooding my area of Oregon now.....
There ought to be a wall around CA. It is true that they have invaded CO. years ago.
