Norma Brand 6BR Brass

Looking for some examples of folks using the Norma 6BR brass in either a straight 6 or one of the wildcats. A quick search on here has a little info. It does have thicker necks and doesn't seem to hold pressure as well as the Lapua brass.

Thanks in advance for the help and good shooting

I really cant compare, as since using the BR I have not been able to buy any Lapua! However I find the Norma brass to be OK. Now into 5 or 6 firings and still has good primer pockets. I do run a fairly gentle load of 4166 - but trying Varget for this year with 107 Sierras.

I have been using the Norma brand brass in my 6BR hunting rifle and have been really happy with the Norma brass. Primer pockets are still good after 9 firings on the brass.
My hunting load:
70-Grn Nosler Ballistic Tip Bullet
32.0-Grains of IMR 8208XBR Powder
CCI 450 Primer
Close to 3200fps

Years back, Lapua 6BR was REAL HARD TO COME BY. None to be had ANYWHERE.
Found some 6BR Norma and found it was good stuff.
About the same price but available.
Got both and no issues with it being any softer that Lapua.
No more worries about running out of Lapua 6BR brass.
I will add, I load ONLY mid range loads that will all go in the same hole so my brass doesn't get hammered. Treat it nice and it will be nice to you. ;)

I've used Norma and Lapua brass in my 6br's (and PPC's) for over 15years. Never had an issue with the Norma. Many times we've used the two brands interchangeably in the same rifle / barrel. Never had an issue with loose primer pockets on the Norma either.

I've read about it being "soft" but have never seen any actual numbers that support it being significantly softer on a constant basis. JME, YMMV. WD

Side by side, it won't hold up to my go to loads that I get very good life with, using Lapua. That said, it was always my 2nd choice if I couldn't get Lapua. But, with the new Peterson, ADG/Alpha brass options out there now, I don't have enough experience with those to say for sure. Early testing shows it to weigh more and for the loads to be reduced for it accordingly. If I do this and load to roughly the speed/pressure I'm looking for...it seems pretty good but still not up to Lapua in terms of brass life only. Lapua has been hard to find of late. I wouldn't hesitate to buy Norma if that's what I could get. I just wouldn't load up on it. I'd get enough to hold me over and try to wait for Lapua, but that's just me. FWIW, I have gone to mostly no turn necks and I can't see myself going back, even for short range group and score. I just can't see it on paper....and I don't find neck turning to be much fun, either...fwiw.

FYI, Just received 100 pieces of the Norma brass. Necks average .012", that's .0005" thinner than the last batch of Labua brass I received

Check the overall length difference between the Norma dasher brass and Lapua or Peterson or alpha dasher brass. Norma is longer necked and the reamer you have may dictate which brass will utilize, or not, the longer free bore of your reamer and your ability to jam later on in the barrel’s erosion cycle.
