Norma .284 Winchester Brass Cases, 100 Count

Bullets.com I s now taking orders kinda pricey

I don't think the price is too bad currently. Some expected it to cost $2 each. It will all depend on how well they hold up compared to Lapua. If they are as good as they claim, I don't think people will have an issue with the current price point.

Actually Joe, I was shocked! Shocked that they are the price they are! I was expecting upwards of $200.00 per 100 pieces. This is a very pleasant surprise! I ordered 300 and if all works as well as I anticipate, they will be around for a L-O-N-G time to come! Additionally, if the .284 is what it is tauted to be, the Dasher brass will sell out in mere moments! I am waiting on that arrival too!

I think what people don't understand is the cost to have Norma manufacture such a small amount. 500,000 cases is a drop in a bucket to Norma and I'm sure the cost of tooling and R&D is quite high in a case like this. I applaud Shiraz for taking the time and effort to bring this brass to market. I am also salivating at the opportunity to buy dasher brass as I just dived into that caliber myself. Although forming brass isn't too difficult, it is time consuming and some people like myself have limited time on their hands. This will allow me to shoot more which is always a great thing!! I do hope that Shiraz releases some specs. on this brass though as it would be extremely helpful to have prior to ordering my 284 Shehane reamer.

I think that BOTH Norma and Shiraz are looking down the road to a HUGE market for both the .284 as well as the Dasher. I think they hit the nail right on the head! I would bet that if the .284 brass is as good as it it supposed to be, when the Dasher brass arrives in will be sold out so quickly that Shiraz will be placing another order quickly! I am very hopeful that this brass will retain tight primer pockets with "normal" .284 loadings. I believe it will or I would not have ordered 300 of them..

+1. Agreed. Shiraz is an intelligent individual and I think he listened to everyone's complaints that the primer pockets became loose too quickly with Norma brass compared to Lapua. I'm sure he made sure that Norma addressed this concern/issue with the Norma team prior to signing a contract for 1 million cases. Hopefully someone tests this by firing a single piece multiple times to test it. I also trusted this would not be an issue as I ordered 400 of them and plan on ordering at least 500 dasher cases if the 284 is good.

One may assume that when Shiraz orders more in the future, the price point would be lower as the tooling has already been covered. He however did introduce the brass at an introductory price that was advertised as over 40 dollars per hundred off so the price may not change in the future either. He needs to make a profit on this venture or it wouldn't make sense to pursue something like this.

whatever happens, happens, whatever the cost may be now or in the future there will be buyers. I have a .284 Shehane that I would be satisfied to use Winchester brass in, if I could find it. I could neck up Lapua or buy the Norma. When it comes to shooting you will buy what is available no matter what the cost. I think the brass is fairly priced.

I ordered 200 yesterday and when I talked to the lady at bullets.com she said they were still 4-6 weeks out from getting them.

I just don't see it. They only want $106 for 6.5-284 for Lapua brass.
The Norma case was made to be better for primer pockets, overall brass life, etc.
If you don't see it then you never will.... :-X

It needs to be better, I had some 300 WSM Norma brass that wasn't anything to get excited about. Winchester was at least twice as good. Soured me on Norma brass.

I bought three 100 count bags of Norma wsm brass from brownells. Each bag only came with 91 pieces. Got hosed out of 44 bucks worth of brass at 1.65 apiece. My other experience with norma was when I was shooting the 7 rsaum. Pockets came loose very quick. I just bought 1000 pieces of lapua and neck turned them so it will be a while before I need some more. Im interested to see how long these pockets last on the norma 284 stuff. At the msrp price difference between lapua they are going to need to last almost twice as long. Hopefully that is the case. Anxious to hear peoples results.

I just ordered 200 from bullets.com and the email I received said they are expecting them in on June 12.

My recent experience with Norma brass has been very good. I'm on my 8th firing of Norma 7-08 brass and the primer pockets are still nice and tight. Very consistent brass that has produced very accurate ammo, so far.

I couldn't pass up the chance for quality, head stamped .284 Win brass for an upcoming "hunting build". I applaud everyone at bullets.com and Norma for producing this.
