Norma 284 Winchester Brass

Anyone using the new Norma 284 Winchester Brass yet? What unturned loaded neck diameter are you seeing? Thanks!

This has been discussed recently so if you search you'll find some information. I have turned all of mine so I can's say fro sure, but from memory the loaded rounds had a neck diameter of 0.3165". In any event, the Norma necks are thicker than Winchester or Lapua by several thousandths. I am still working on my Winchester brass so I haven't loaded any yet. Others have though.

The brass is fantastic. I was leery to try it since I already had Lapua 6.5X284. It has proven to be more consistent than the Laupa in internal H20 volume and my scores improved.

My Norma 284W brass from bullets.com checks .3163 w/berger hyb. (NOT Turned)
Turned & loaded checks .3125 Lotsa shavings I think the brass is slightly harder
not quite as sticky as lapua The norma Did turn very nice. John

So, if I have a .321 neck, would I be better off selling my necked up lapua brass and getting some of this norma brass? it seems the necks would have less expanding to do and hopefully have a longer life. my loaded rounds are .312 with berger vlds.

I have a .317 neck in my .284, and I use Norma brass (unturned) shoots great, my loaded round also is .316, I shoot a Savage action though, which has a floating bolt head, in which I can get by with .0005 per side of clearance when chambering a round. I like it as I don't work my brass hardly at all. My barrel is a 32" Brux, 1:9, 4 groove
