Norma 223 Brass

I'm going to go out on a limb here - I've already been chastised for not getting a joke.
You shot a fly at 100 yards with a FMJ bullet?
Not a joke, nor one intended. I hit a fly at 100 yards with one of the factory rounds that still had the FMJ bullet in it. The gun used was my old Savage bolt gun in .223 Rem. It's been glass bedded, it has a Douglas 1:12 twist stainless air gauge barrel from SSS. It has SSS recoil lug and trigger set at about 1 pound pull, and a 6-24 Bushnell Elite scope in Leupold mounts. When it and me (mostly me) are on, it's incredibly accurate.

Everybody,

Here are my results from the testing I did to compare case performance of Norma. The rifle was my bolt 223 Remington 700 with Shilen Barrel 1:8 twist, Wylde chamber and about 3000 rounds. The load for all cases was 24.0 Varget with BR-4 primers, 77 SMK and loaded to 2.420 COAL.

I didn't quite remember that I actually did 5 cases. All of these cases are matched turned and sorted by case weight.

Lapua fired 6X.
Nosler fired 3X
LC fired 2X case wt 94
Hornady fired 3X case wt 94 grains
Norma fired 2X case wt 98 grains.

I loaded 20 each and sorted within each 20 by total runout of the bullet. Nothing over 3 but only Lapua and Norma had all 20 2 or less. I shot round robin, 5 of each case down the line and then start over. That way no case had an advantage of being shot in a very fouled barrel.

the results of 4 - 5 shot groups are as follows

Lapua .540
Hornady .609
Nosler .610
Norma .619
LC .659

So I didn't quite remember the outcomes correctly but like I said there was no runaway on any part. Definitely shows it is in good standing. I am sure that if I added Rem and Win they would have loast to even LC based on past experience.
