Norma 202 powder in 45 70 trapdoor

I have several lb of Norma 202. Has anybody tried it in the 45 70 trap door loads?

according to the hodgon burn rate chart it is just faster than Varget
Norma 202 burn rate 102 and Varget = burn rate of 108

It was designed for the 308 and works well in other medium case cartridges including 223

with the 308 165g bullet
Lyman has varget at 41g mv at 2502 fps
Norma has 202 at 41g mv at 2565 fps

202 works for me in my 204x45!
I haven't found anything better. Personally I think it might be too slow, don't they list 5744?

5744 is not available
Varget is one of the recommended powder and 202 is just slightly faster than Varget based on that I think 202 could be an equal or better choice

I bought it during the pandemic and still have it. It is not readily available so not something id look at as being a long term powder

It's not available since Norma has stopped exporting to the U.S. What you see is what you get.

Varget and Norma 202 can certainly be loaded to the proper pressure level. But and here is the big but:

Neither burns with any completeness in standard length barrels when loaded with a 350 gr. bullet. I didn't test others but the 350's left 20% unburned powder. So, if you feel wasteful or want to test heavier bullets under the pressure constraints, have at it. Otherwise, switch powders or cartridges.
