Non-HOF members who meant much to BR

I an surprised no one has mentioned Larry Bagget.

A lot of shooters have a good “ Bagget story”

Mine comes from the mid 2000’s when we had the last Nationals in Kansas. Larry had been fighting verticle all week. The afternoon before the last yardage on Saturday Morning, The HV 200, he told everybody he was going to try something different.

He went to a local store and bought a pound of 4895 and a .070 drill. He took some cases and drilled out the flash holes in the Lapua cases. He just loaded what amounted to a full case of 4895 behind his bullet and went on to win that yardage and the HOF point.

He didn’t shoot anything real small, just five nice round “fours”.

All of us in the Gulf Coast Region will continue to miss Larry.
Larry was a great shooter for a long time. It seems that he was always "in the hunt" for winning a match. Here is a picture of some of our SW shooters at the "Rattlesnake" in Raton. Some of this group including Larry are no longer with us.Raton 021-001.JPG

Mr. Joe Maisto comes to my mind. Never meet him personally but I emailed him about a ppc box one day and we talked every day til he passed. We were both carpenters and passionate about benchrest so we had alot to talk about.
Joe told me a story about the day he retired from the union. He said "walked down the block with my tool bag on my shoulder and went into the.first pub I saw. Had me a bourbon and walk outside took my watch off my wrist and smashed it on the side. From that point on time never meant a damn thing to me"
