no .300 winmag users ?

I am new to this site and game guys. So a quick "hello guys".
I have a rem 700 300 winmag xtr. I was thinking of bedding it into a mcmillan stock and adding a heavy krieger barrel to it.
For F-open class..
I am a fairly young guy and do not really mind the recoil of it.
Though I have not put 200 rounds through it in one day either.
I also have a DPMS Panther LR 308 18" barrel though.

Thoughts??

Love the 300WM. Get some H1000 and some Hornady 208 AMAX bullets and have some fun. I'd say try it out in the factory barrel before replacing it as you might be pleasently suprised. If not Kreiger or Bartlein are a good direction for a new barrel.

McMillan makes great stocks but they also have a 6 month wait. You can also check out Manners stocks. Also great at less wait time.

The barrel I have it on it now is taperd pretty skinny as it comes to the muzzle. After 40 shots you don't want to touch it. That's for sure. I'll try the bullets you say and see what happens.
I guess I batter on McMillans waiting list pronto.

I have a rifle similar to what you are talking about, Post 64 Winchester model 70 controlled feed action, 28" Krieger 1/10 twist, #9 profile,heavy target). McMillan A2 Tactical stock. Action was trued and barreled by Jim Cloward.

It will shoot 1/2 MOA with 208 Amax and H1000, (3000 fps).

Rifle is about 16 lbs.

It was built for hunting but has done double duty in a 1000 yard any / any match.

It works, but I would nor recommend it for F-class. Barrel life is short and the recoil will wear you out.

Build a 6.5/284,or 6XC for F-class
