Nitride Bolt Treatment H&M Request

A customer of mine had a nice Kreiger barrel ruined by HM. No warranty implied or offered. Be careful in your dealings. Personally I would never nitride a barrel myself. Just something passed onto me in conversation, as I did work on his replacement barrel that he had to purchase. Ouch!

Thanks Paul. I agree. FWIW I’m not interested in nitriding barrels, just actions and bolts. I never bought into the nitride barrel thing at least for bore longevity and with the negative results I’ve heard it is a no. It’d be great for a surface treatment but with the risk of ruining it I’ll pass.

Almost all of the complaints about melonite on barrels I've checked were not thoroughly cleaned to remove all of the molten salts. My most accurate barrel of all time was a melonited Kreiger.

Butch is correct you have to clean them like you do a muzzle loader.

Paul what was ruined with the barrel ? Was it warped,corroded or quit shooting.
You can get some AR barrels that a nitrided.

Pretty sure it is, last year Ohio is were I had some stuff done and 350.00 was the lot charge.

175.00 for action and bolt.

To add to the above. CTT batch price for 5 bolts and action bodies (shrouds and cocking pieces can be included w/no additional cost) for $125 ea, $625 total. HM is cheaper on the batch charge.

H&M did my handgun slide, CZ455 action and bolt, and various other parts. It was completed in about a week. I sent it to the Ohio location. Sorry don’t know the price since I won a gift certificate. I dealt with Bear was his nickname. Good work.
