Nitride Bolt Treatment H&M Request

Hmm..I saw this post and looked up and didnt know what this is all about. Interesting! I am in the process of trying to improve hardness of Lee collets and the anvils as they are so soft. This could be the ticket! I didnt know nitride hardens as well. thanks!

Just got off the phone with Kelby's they dont do it anymore either

Just a heads up, back when I was doing the nitride on my 1911's, I asked about the 700 bolts. I was told that they were skeptical about doing 700 bolts due to the bolt handles and the bolt heads being brazed on. The temp from the nitride was so high, that I was told by H&M they were afraid to tackle it. If anyone has done it, please chime in. Not trying to talk you out of it, because I had some stainless bolts that I would have dome myself.

I've had 3 brazed on ones done no issues and I've got 2 Defiance actions and 3 700 welded ones, I can see were the potential of a brazed on one having an issue I've just never seen it.

If I had a 700 I would make sure the primary extraction was good atleast before I had any nitride done then weld it back up, especially if its an RR action

Don't know if this is still pertinent but I've sent barrels to Rock Creek. When they get a batch, they send them.
