Nikon????

Wonder if there'll be any good sales or some jacking up the price because it's no longer made. Saw my Win 9422 go from $250.00 to $900.00-+.

What about service for those that just bought one?

It's a crowded field yes... But I wonder if alot of these companies are getting away from guns because of the Remington / Sandy Hook law suits that are/could be setting up things to come in the future... There's alot of companies and investees exiting the gun busness... I think colt knew this was coming and that's the real reason they cut civilian sales.... It's not like these big companies don't know what's coming long before the public does....

I doubt it. It looks like Remington is getting sued for ads that the plaintiffs say promoted shooting people or something. It is pretty stupid because the Sandy Hook shooter didn't buy the rifle. That's a big disconnect between the marketing and the shooter.

I doubt Nikon has any advertisements they have to worry about. I think the PLCA protects Remington any way.

Nikon is going to continue to exist so with the millions (?) of Nikon scopes on hunting rifles and MSRs, it's not like killing the product line would protect them from that type of lawsuit if an existing scope was used.

+1 on the 9422 thing. Wish I’d bought a boxcar load of them.

service doesn’t matter even if they continued making their scopes. They changed their warranty to something super crappy. Like no warranty on electronics in scopes and a limited 5 year, along those lines, for mechanical failures. After a certain time period, their warranty expires. They are leaving the scope market hard and fast.

I have a few older Buckmaster scopes on some prairie dog rifles. They have served me very well over the years.
Nikon's Black line is, I believe, what did them in. Quality was, from what I read, poor on them. I will say they started a downward spiral with the exit of my good friend Jon LeCorte as the head of Nikon Sport Optics. BTW, I'm wondering if they are just getting out of riflescopes or closing out the Sport Optic division entirely? That would kill off the rangefinders, spotters and binoculars as well.

I think that is a bit backward, they had almost no presence in the "tactical" segment before that and then they tried to get in to it.

If their typical hunting style scopes were a good business, they wouldn't be exiting rifle scopes, just "tactical".

I have a Monarch3 scope with the bdc reticle on a hunting rifle. I’ve enjoyed it ok, but crosshairs are way thick. Nikon,s Spot-On app is fun to play with on ballistics for the BDC, I wonder if they will keep this app up?
