Nikon Black

I've posted on another form asking about the new Nikon Black scopes and haven't gotten much feedback. Any of you had any hands on experience with them? What I've read, they seem to be a pretty good scope for the money.

I've got one. The glass is more than adequate and it tracks just fine. Matter of fact I'm ordering another one for my grandson's AR.

I was in Sportsmans Warehouse handling one of these.

I don't know if it was a bad shipment or what but the turrets were absolutely horrible, by far the worst of any turret I've turned!

They were mushy and click lines didn't line up with the indicator line on the housing and even then that aspect wasn't consistent, meaning I couldn't tell which click I was on because a click could land anywhere inbetween???

I handled one at bass pro today. The glass seemed clear, the reticle was too busy for my liking and the turrets were terrible. I wanted to like this scope but the turrets were a deal breaker.

Now you guys got me re-thinking if I want one or not. I guess another trip to give is a second look is in order.

Reticle too busy??? As far as modern reticles go it's a plain jane .5 mil. Next step down in plainness, lol, is a mildot.

A lot of scopes have the turret mechanisms over greased and don't have that nice audible click when new. Then there are the adjustable caps that allow you to move them to 0 after getting it dialed in. They can be put on the turret where the hashes don't match up. When handling a new scope, don't be afraid to run the turrets all the way through their range. I have felt and heard the clicks get better over a short period of time.
