NightForce Zero Stop

TheBlueEyedBear

'The Nut Behind The Trigger'
Just curious if anybody is using the NightForce Zero Stop feature on their scope. This sounds good and practical,,, but is it??

The idea is a good one but being cheap I just make darn sure I know how many clicks I need off the bottom to put me where I need to be at any range, and how many I need to go back to the start again...

I do the same as Preacher, count the clicks up and then go back to my zero later.
I have the range finding varmint reticle and use the dots and lines vertically down from the centre sometimes as well.

Cheers
Dave

I will be able to tell you very soon as this is why I have a brand new 3.5 x 15 x 56 NPR-2 for sale....I bought a 5.5 x 22 x 50 with zero stop. I have to try it, but dought it will be worth the $180. I do as dmoran with a 40 MOa base so you are near the bottom any way. This rifle will have a 20 MOA base and zero stop.

If you are LE or Military and in a life and death situation where the mind and heart are racing and you are acquiring targets at multiple yardages a zero stop could be a God send. You just don't have time to count clicks.
For the rest of us the suggestion to use a elevated base to get you closer to the bottom with clicks and just count is probably the best advice.

I guess I agree. I'm going to try Donovan's shimming technique. The thing that gets me is knowing that NightForce makes an auto return to zero feature for their LE & Mil products. I havn't quite figured out why that would be so harmful in the hands of a civilian.

For some of us old farts who's memory is not so good as it once was, we may often be shooting critters and are shoot'n buddy laughs when you put a round 15 feet over the target. Then you remember; damn I fororgot to 'click back'.

Just hope I don't forget when shooting at trophy game animals.

Theres nothing wrong with the zero-stop.
So if your gonna drop alot of money for a great scope, why not get the option?
I have never read anyone complaining about having it. Only complaints about not being able to get it.

I was just reading the article about Kenton Industries’ Tuned Windage Compensator & Elevation compensator. Maybe this is my answer. Almost sounds too good to be true. But, I will try it: I can always switch back to factory knobs.
