The 1.5 inch is from bottom of ring to center of optic?

Correct, nightforce measurements are from bottom of ring base or top of picatinny rail to Centerline of scope ring

The 1.5 inch ring should have plenty of clearance even on a straight 1.250 Barrel profile with your 56 mm objective
