Nightforce sHV question

Hi guys..kind of getting an ich for a new optic..
Its going on a Tikka Tx3 .223

I've been looking at the Nightforce SHV 3-10x42
Force plex
These optics seem to have better clarity (for my eyes)...all of my leupold seem hazy side by side comparison with my eyes ...ive had my friend compare ..but my budy says im crazy...I can see a considerable difference..maybe its time for Lasix in my shootn eye..haha

Has any one else noticed this difference..and if so...for the price of the Nightforce, if there something else I should look at?..a vortex model?..they seem to be very popular..and I've been away from the scene for a bit...I know I can't go wrong with a nightforce purchase, even just for resale purposes..they hold there value well...

Just thought I'd ask before I make the commitment and pull the trigger on this purchase..thanks

I have 2 of those 3-10 SHV on hunting rifles and really like them. Good glass, rugged, repeatable adjustments. No complaints.
Also have a couple of Tract Optics 3-15
If I was buying now, I would go with the Tract. Check them out

I have a Tikka CTR in .223, I went with the Meopta
Optika6 3-18×50 FFP, I have the NF SHV 5-20, 4-14 FFP, also Ziess V4 4-16 and Swarovski Z5 3-18,
And to me the Meopta is by far the best bang for the money spent, now I really like the others as well, but, the Meopta Optika6 was just as clear with respect to the Swarovski, I do believe it has the edge over the Meopta, but mostly splitting hairs, the NF is a great scope, but there heavy, Meopta is a great balance. Just my opinion

I thought Meopta was like tasco..or Simmons?..
Are they quality glass..maybe I have them confused with another brand..
The brands you listed do not belong in the same class as Tasco, and Simmons..hahaha..ill have to look them up..
NF optics are heavy..and I would prefer a 30mm tube, 42 mm objective..I think a 50mm is just to big to drag around..my friend had a ziess conquest..it was very nice..fantastic clarity ..and I believe there not to ridiculously priced..
As I get older..I need less, and less..but im willing to pay up for quality, and products that work good for me..because there doesn't seem to be many out there I like, and trust..

Wait!...that scope is 15"!....long...hahahaha...excuse me while I whip this out!...hahaha...thats too loooooong...im looking for compact..thats why I like the NF SHV...
I dont know how they did it..but night force stuffed 10lbs of shit in a 5lb bag so to say...it has is all in a small package..not spread out over the length of my rifle barrel....hahahaha

Right, but that Meopta is 3-18.
Their 3-10 is 13" vs the 11.6" for the SHV.

The Meopta Optika 5's I've had had good glass and tracking.

From what I understand, Meopta is a European company has been producing there own glass for decades, and the glass for the higher end European scope manufacturers, it appears they don't do a lot of advertising, but there glass quality is unmatched at that price point.

Meopta is a big big step up from Tasco and Simmons in clarity and reliability of tracking

I have the NF SHV 3-10 x 42 (I think) w/ MOAR sans illumination (so I could get the side focus). I have found the exact opposite when comparing to my VX5 3-15x44. To my eye, the Leupold glass is far superior. If you like what you see in the SHV, go with it. It doesn't make you crazy. Our eyes are all different, and mine ain't great!

Get what works for your eyes....Im the same way and think my Sightrons
better than the NF comp I have....And they are both Great Scopes and I wouldnt sell either one.
My old eye just prefers the SVSSED better so NF sits on the backup Rifle.

The SHV is a good scope with a price of ~ $1k for the model you indicated (3-10x42 with plex reticle, side focus and capped turrets). What are you going to use your rifle for...hunting, targets, etc and to what distance??

Completely different league to a tasco or Simmons! I've looked through a lot of scopes and own a SHV, NF comp, NXS, Leupolds of various models, vortex and Swarovski. If you want simple scope that's amazing to look through at a fair price buy a meopta meostar 3-12x56 30mm tube. They also do a very nice meopro 4-12x50 1" tube f you want something smaller.

The SHV is OK. Nothing special. Glass is grey. Turrets feel cheap. I bought it at the rite price but I wouldn't buy another at retail.

For the money I think the SHV is about the best all around scope a guy can get.

The glass is the same as they use on the NXS series but the scope itself ends up with a few less features. I've ran a couple of them on multiple rifles with great luck. Adjustments always work, hold zero and great glass.

I love the 3-10, might have to own one at some point.

I bought a SHV once. Took it back the next day, I didn’t feel the glass was that great at all.
