Nightforce scope question

That scope has only 40 moa of elevation adjustment. A 20 MOA base will put you right at the bottom. You do need the sloped base if you want to shoot past about 800 yards, so the non-100yard zero sounds like a good solution.

Are you saying... just get straight bases with no MOA taper ? I won't need them for 600 yards? I'm not going to shoot this past that... for now.

Depends on your bullet and appropriate dope. If you do not use a slanted rail, then you are limited to approx. 1/2 the elevation adjustment (in your case, 20 MOA). Ideally, with that scope, you would want a 10 or 15 MOA rail. That would allow you to get a 100 yard zero, and still have 30-35 MOA elevation adjustment. If I were you, I would stick with what you have and get a zero at as short a range as possible, then hold off if you need to shoot shorter. Your reticle will allow you to do this.
