Nightforce scope question

Went to range today to sight in and do a little load testing. I have 20 MOA bases and couldn't get on at 100 yards with a 223 Rem ! I've been able to with my BR. It's a NXS 12-42. I bottomed out and it was 3 inches high at 100. It only has one set screw on the turret, and a allen inside. Can this be adjusted? I tried calling NF but no answer.
Thanks

The reason I'd like to buy it is because I'd bet it has a zero stop.

Give this man a cigar! I was baffled until I read this post, and then"duh",

I could easily be wrong, but I thought that the zero stops went only up to the 8-32's.

The elevation turret will have a noticeable bevel on top, and it will have 2 allen screws holding the turret on instead of 1. When you take the elevation turret off, there will be 4 allen screws and a flat head screw/cap in the very center on the zero stop turrets. At least there is on my zero stop models.

If by chance it is a zero stop (and I'm wrong again), go to the NightForce website and directions for adjustment are there. Also, directions come in the box in all models now. At least in my case they did.

They might have a Manual, on line. Try to google it. I can help, in a few days. Right now I'm 100 miles away from mine. As I remember, ya loosen a screw, take off the cap, remove some tiny parts and try to find that pesky spring that always flies onto the carpet, etc, etc. easy as pie!😳😳😳 Oops! Just back from what I should have done first . google. From the website, todays version does not come with the Zero stop option. Back to the rings, maybe. Look for one more thing, though. I bought an older model, without Zero stop. The previous owner had "shimmed" it, for a kind of home made zero stop. Might be it.

Different BBLs point in different directions. I have A switch bbl rig that can zero at 100 with all the tubes but one. 12x 42 with 20 moa base. It just depends on how they are indexed.

My Sightron 10x50x60 with a 20moa base is about 12 inches high at 100 yards without touching it, could it be that you are shooting over?

Not sure what that means. Shooting over ?

It's not a zero stop. It's 1/4 moa with 20 moa turrets. I guess they're the high speed version.

Had the same problem,20 moa base puts you scope angle to high for short distance shot high at 100 and 200 yds could not use the center crosshair until 300 yds. Do what Dragman suggested switch to the Z rings.

Could you possibly have a 30 or maybe even a 40 moa base on your receiver? Your scope's erector should have plenty of travel to get you on target at 100 yards with a 20 moa base.

It's not the first time I've seen this on a 12-42. They don't have the same amount of elevation at the other models. I could live with the 3" high at 100 as I didn't by the 42x to shoot 100yrds. I would back it off of bottomed out a coue MOA though. Scoped do funny things sometimes when they are bottomed out, be it top, bottom, or sides. What reticle do you have? If it's the np-r1 just use one of the hash marks above the center as your 100yrd referance point

This is primarily for 600 yd F TR matches. I have dovetail bases installed. That would mean changing everything out. I'll just have to use the upper MOA crosshairs for shooting the shorter distances. Not ideal but I don't want to change out the rings and bases. Yes, just 20 MOA bases, Sid Goodling cut these for me. It's a NP-R2 reticle.
Thanks

Pop the cap off. If a scope doesn't have a zero stop a machinist or gunsmith or accomplished hobbyist can make a stop by putting a custom spacer under the cap. --Jerry

Burris does make Signature dovetail rings with the inserts so you could easily adjust the scope height to be dead on at 100 and still allow you to shoot 600. I have been down this route with a 6 Dasher and it worked perfectly.

By shooting over I meant that you may have been shooting over your target, when I first shot my gun with the Sightron at 100 yards to get wind-age I used two targets one above the other on my target stand, shot at the bottom target hit the top target was probably higher than 12 inches but at 600 it was pretty close this was with a 20moa base and no adjustments made :)

wow my 243 and 6BR with my NF NXS 12-42-56 with 1/8 turrets and NF 20moa uni mount could get down to 100m easy .. something doesn't sound right
