Nightforce reticle swap price haggle?

Has anyone ever tried to haggle the price on a Nightforce reticle swap? I'm interested in the 15-55x52 competition model and want the fcr 1 reticle. I just bought a new 2014 model with fcr1 reticle for $2115.

I do not care about the zero stops and don't really need them for what I'm doing. I can buy a used 2013 model in the classifieds here for around $1700. By the time I shipped it back to NF, paid the $400 for a reticle swap, and paid return shipping, it would be cheaper to just buy another new one.

However, if NF would work on the reticle swap price, buying used would be a better way to go. Plus, I have another 2013 model that I'd swap the reticle on too.

Anyone ever haggled with them? Advice? It's one of those things where I'd LIKE to swap my 2013 reticle but it's not the end of the world if I don't. I'm willing to pay for it, but I'm not convinced that it's worth $400 to me.

Thanks for the reply. These scopes are like my rifles, they're worth more to me than what I could sell them for. Also, I only shoot 100 yd backyard benchrest and go prairie dogging with them once a year. I never know what I'm dialing because the distances are unknown. Twist, shoot, twist again... Rezero at 100 in 2 shots when I get back home. Point taken for the future though. Maybe someday I'll decide to actually compete. Who knows.

I suppose I'd be better off to buy another 2014 with the reticle I want and then sell my 2013 unchanged. Buy for $2100 and sell for $1600 is still only a $500 investment at the end of the day and gets the reticle I want and the zero stops as a bonus. I may consider doing that after this years pdog hunt.

Heard anything about a 2015 model or is it staying unchanged from 2014?

Rangefinders can't see the pdogs in the mirage where we shoot unless they're inside 200 yards or so. We have several of them from cheap to very expensive. The only real consistent way we've found to measure the distance is to hit one, walk out there, and range find the truck behind the benches we're shooting from. We've thought about putting up distance flags but we shoot in a new place each day when we're there. It's so freaking flat (west Texas) I'm not sure the flags would help much anyways. The difference between 350 and 525 yards looks like 15 feet.

Dave, been through west Texas a number of times and remember it well; that's a great cartoon that says it all. Love it. ;D

One of the "tools" I use to range PD's is topographic maps and a ruler. Can be a very accurate way.
Goggle Earth and a laptop is another.

I'll admit, I'm still a rookie at this. I barely know enough to be dangerous. Can you elaborate please? I'm interested.
