Nightforce CH reticles?

I'm in the market for a Nightforce BR 12x42 scope. Rifle will be a dedicated 600 & 1000 yard bench gun. I was pleased to see them offer the CH reticles as available on BR series recently.

What I would really like to try is the CH-3 version. What I'm trying to get a feel for is how usable those super fine crosshairs are in tough conditions. I don't have the really great vision I used to enjoy.

Although a number of local shooters have big Nightforce scopes, none have any type of CH reticles. I'd love to spend some time looking through them, but I may end up driving to the Orofino plant to have that opportunity.

I was hoping to benefit from any of your experiences with CH-3 reticle in either of the big Nightforces.

Thanks, Dick

I had my 2DD changed out for a CH3 this winter... so far I like it, but I haven't had the chance to test it out in any nasty mirage yet,not warm enough yet). Part of the reason I wanted this particular reticle was so in addition to the ultra-fine aiming point, I still have the crosshairs to help center the bull if the mirage gets bad enough that I can't see the scoring rings very well. Or at least, thats the theory for now ;)

I like my 12x42 CH-3, but in the heat of Aug. I still had to back the power back to help with the ground mirage in a F-Class match. From a bench or raised firing line,Keene, NH) it's bright and clear at full power in full sun.

I feel the fine crosshair on my 12-42 NXS with .25 clicks, makes it easier to hold off at long distances. Dot covers too much to do this.
