Nightforce 20moa Uni-Mount for Pic Rail

Has any one ever had any problems with a NF Uni-Mount?

I've mounted mine on a flat top AR-15, and used up all of the horizontal adjustment in a 2.5-10x32 NF scope, and I am still out 3" left at 100 yds. This is the same scope I had on it before in ARMS rings, with no problems.

What tha hell?

I have used the unimount on a alexander arms billet upper, and it would not track true. Thought it was the scope (NF) sent scope to factory, no problems with the scope. They then asked how do the claws appear to be gripping, you should see some space between the bottom half of the ring and the top claw. Thought I saw clearance, then looked in their catalog and it had an excellent picture of what that space should look like. So for an experiment I mounted two risers to to the rifle and then the unimount to the risers. No more flyers and everything tracked as it should, and the spacing of the claw was correct. Still not sure why it works with the risers and not the pic. rail as a pic. is very specific on size and angles. Hope this helps in some way.

Rethought this and also came up with this answer, One do you have the unimount so that the high end is to the rear of the rifle, and that it slopes downward to the muzzle? Second do you have the hex nuts torqued to the same value and that it is within NF values? If mounted backwards you will lose horizontal adjustment. And if the nuts are not torqued to the same value the nut that is torqued to the higher value will pull the mount out of straight alignment, causing a shift to the right or left depending on which nut is tightened more. Was at a match once where one guy had installed his rail backwards could not make it out to 800 yds. He was able to switch the rail around and finish the stage in time. It happens.

You know, I never thought of incorrect torque. Will check that tomorrow, and let you know. Makes perfect sense, being a one piece unit. Thanks.
