Nightforce 12x42 BR versus Sightron 10x50 PLR

I just acquired a Nightforce 12x42 BR scope at a really good price (couldn't pass it up) and very pleased with it, clarity, adjustments etc. My only concern with it is the 6MOA per revolution. I don't shoot that much however the matches I go to are shot at various distances primarily from 100 to 500 yards. I shoot centerfires out to the 500-yard mark and rimfires out to 250 yards. My custom Suhl requires 30 MOA to reach 250, my 223 AR needs 13 MOA for 500 etc. With the NF possessing only 6 MOA per revolution I find myself doing a lot of twisting up, pretty easy for me to lose track of where I'm at (I'm 76 years young).

A year ago, I purchased a Sightron 8x32 PLR scope for my Seekins 6.5 CM bolt gun, this scope has 1/4 MOA adjustments and 20 MOA per revolution (I really like this scope). I find it so easy to crank it up to all the distances out to 500 yards (Seekins needs just 10 MOA for 500). I'm thinking of purchasing a Sightron 10x50 PLR which also has 1/4 MOA adjustments and 20 MOA per revolution. I'm thinking I could use this scope on different rifles and would better suit my needs.

I would appreciate any thoughts on this.

Thanks much!

I have a couple of NF BR’s and shoot from 100 to 1000 yds on a regular basis. Yes, there is a lot of turning. We shoot the Palma course frequently, with a base 300 zero, I need to go to 800, then 900 and on to 1000.
What I’ve always done, in case I get lost, is to carefully determine the number of MOAs from turret bottom to say a 300 yd zero. If need be you can crank it down, come up to 300 and dial from there. I do the same for windage usually from the far left “bottom”. I move them carefully and smoothly being sure to count correctly. Never had a problem getting to where I needed to go. They are what they are, but the quality is there.

I use Burris XTR Signature Rings. They have the inserts and I use a NightForce 12-42x56 BR. I shoot out to 1000 with no problem. The scope is bottomed out at 100 . I use a 20moa rail and don’t remember the inserts but I have no complaints. I have to generally go between 32-35 moa at 1000. Great Scope and tracks great too…

Not trying to be contrary but why do folks refer to a rifle scope as 3x9, 12x42, etc instead of 3-9, 12-42?
The scope is min power-max power X objective.
That might be 8-40X50, or 5-30X56.
Binos 7x35, 10x50.

I think @james talking about a fixed power Nightforce, the 12X42. It's not a very high mag scope at 12X but it's smallish with its 42mm objective.
I had an NF NXS 12-42X56 years ago. I also think there is now a Nightforce 12-42X56 BR riflescope as the NXS was discontinued. I'm not sure when the NF 12X42 was discontinued.
