Nielson's Pumpkin

Nodak7mm

Team Lefse
Why does this tool appear to be so elusive to find out further info on it, beyond what is posted on this sight?
It is apparently sold only at two places, one of which says call for pricing information and the other has no pix or product info. just a price with mandrel.
Maybe I am the odd duck, but I'd like to know more about how something works, adjusts, set-up, etc before I spend my hard to come by allowance money...
Are there instructions or "how-to-use" or a owners parts breakdown available someone can share....
Any info appreciated.
Thanks

I recently sold one that I was not using and I got it with neither a box nor instructions. It was so simple that even a caveman could operate it. Only 4 basic parts.

There was another for sale that did have an instruction sheet with it. Maybe you can track it down and ask the guy to scan the sheet for you.

Some things need no instructions or explanations. Toilet paper comes to mind. Maybe the Pumpkin is another? ::)

You can call Kelbly's and they will send you a brochure on the pumpkin. To me it is the easiest neck turner to set up. It has hash marks, all you do is loosen one screw and turn the bottom part of the tool, this moves the cutting blade in by .0001" (I think), turn to desired cutting depth and tighten screw and you are ready to go. I have two of them, and I think it's money well spent.

Ahhhh, Cheechako.... Man, did I miss out. Just what I needed to turn my 6.5 brass.... :-[
Well, if anyone else wants to move one, let me know.
Thanks.

Thanks DRS, i'll have to check that jankster out for myself. I had heard of it a little bit back, but somehow it slipped my mind that was an option to the others. The mind is the 1st thing to go I guess....

What do these run with a carbide mandrel?

This is the price list that I got from Kebly's.

Nielson Neck Turner (Pumpkin)
-Neck Turner (one caliber) $175.00
-Carbide 22 - 6mm - 6.5mm -30 $200.00
-Neck Checker (one caliber) $150.00
-Case Holder (with collet) $ 60.00
-Expander Die $ 50.00
-Neck Turner Mandrels $ 60.00
-Carbide 22 - 6mm - 6.5mm -30 $ 85.00
-Neck Checker Mandrels $ 25.00

Looks like it's $200.00 with carbide mandrels

Thanks Erik.

Not bad pricing, but I don't see a 7mm option.

I am using the new Sinclair and it is great as well. Runs about the same $200 with a carbide mandrel, and if you have all the other stuff on hand, expander bodies/mandrels, its a good solution...

Minor correction...
Don is the Pumpkin, he sells a neck turner that happens to be round and is anodized his signature orange. As I understand it he got the nickname from the late great Skip Otto, who called him that, at a match. He was kidding him about the combination of an orange T shirt and rotund shape. I would never suggest that Don is anything of the sort, since that would be such an obvious case of the pot calling the kettle black.

Guys,
How does this compare to the Stiller tool reviewed here?

http://www.6mmbr.com/catalog/item/1433308/892387.htm

I can't find it on their website now, but it looked pretty nice for the money.

I think the Stiller was a limited one time run, a proof of concept or something like that. Mostly to show that a high quality neck turner that worked like the Pumpkin didn't have to cost $200. No longer available new :-(
