NF competition vs Leupold Competition

I'm having a difficult time trying to choose between either the 35x or 40x Leupold over the new NF 42x to put on top of a 22LR bench rifle. Can someone chime in here on owning both these and let me know which one has the better glass.
Next are either of these overkill for a 22 to shoot benchrest with?

I have 2 Leupold Competitions that I bought the second yr. they were out and a NF 12X42. I shoot a lot of multi yardage matches. I have never had one problem with the Leupolds. I have had the NF back once. I can find no fault with either brand. If you want a straight power the Leupold is a good buy at the current price compared to most other scopes of similar quality in my opinion.I have had no issues with any of the above with repeatability or holding zero.
