Newbie to 6 dasher ( Archer barrel, 26' finished , 1/10 ) need advices on VV powders

Hi guys,
Newbie to 6 dasher ( I bought the barrel this morning !!! ) : reamer is .271 and I don't know yet the FB but made for medium weight bullet ( 80 to 95 )
The barrel is an Archer ( Scottish barrel, button rifled made by Border ) 1/10 twist , it will be finished about 26' long put into a Kelbly's Panda.

I bought it to shoot HV BR class at 300 meters , the 1/10 is supposed to increase less torque, which is more confortable for BR.
I have some 90 match target BT & 95gr VLD Target Berger and also 90 Lapua Scenar OTM - L .

The cases will be made from 6BR Norma cases

I only have access to european powders so my first question is about them : would you shoot VV N140 or N150 or other like Swiss RS ?

Secondly : What are the velocities to reach to shoot group size at 300 meters ?

Many thanks in advance for your precious help.

Marc

I have a 10 twist on a Dasher. In my rifle, it will not stabilize the 95 VLD Target. It will work just fine with the 95 Berger Classic Hunter. In yours, it may work fine since all barrels are not the same.
As to the powder, the N140 and 150 are both good powders. You will just have to test both to see what combination of rifle/bullet/powder that it likes. You should be able to find something to your liking in the 2950- 3050 fps range.

Another vote for N135 and 140. I can't comment on the Swiss - we only see certain powders as Reloader brand. Great pity that you don't have Varget and H4895. But you do get Lovex -I'm sure that the one used for 308 would be worth trying - cant remember the number. (Laurie - if you are listening...)

Are Border barrels running again? I thought that they were acquired by Sassen Engineering in B'ham, who subsequently closed.. Do they have the Pratt and Whitney machines back there?

The new company with the same machines and same quality is now Phoenix Barrels , owned by real shooters !

Some good news !
My friend chambered my barrel, it is 27,5 inches long( 28,6 new )
I put a pic of the final result : it's looks like a carp's fishing rod for a benchers shooter like I am, who is mostly accommodated to 21/22 ' barrels ( for 6PPC ).
I made this cedar last november to shoot 30 BR score matches : red cedar and carbon laminated stock

My friend did a accurate barrel breaking , slow between each shoot then after 15 shots he shoot some 5 shoots groups
Don't ask him how he does but some N140 to the shoulder and some home made 68 gr FB bullets! He can't tell me how far from the lands he was but the result is here ! This was fire forming !

The first group is a 100 meters target : the first bullet is the one very down then the four others upper.
The barrel shoot better and better after each shoot
The last group is clean for a fire forming group at 100 meters which inappropriate 68gr bullets regard to 1/10 twist.
The last 2 pics are inside the cleaned barrel after 52 bullets through.

Hi guys,
Newbie to 6 dasher ( I bought the barrel this morning !!! ) : reamer is .271 and I don't know yet the FB but made for medium weight bullet ( 80 to 95 )
The barrel is an Archer ( Scottish barrel, button rifled made by Border ) 1/10 twist , it will be finished about 26' long put into a Kelbly's Panda.

Marc
