newbie here with a new to me savage 260

Hey everyone i am new to this forum and longer range shooting in general. I picked up a new to me Savage 11 trophy hunter in 260 remington. So i thought i would come in here and look for some good loads to try out. I Have rl15, benchmark, lil gun, hogden 8208xbr powders currently. Anyways just looking for some insight. THanks

Go to www.hodgdon.com and look at their Reloading Center. I think powders in the H4350, H4831, IMR4831, IMR4350, Reloader 19 range will work best for 140 grain bullets in the 260. Sierra 142s shoot well and you can't go wrong with Bergers. Test powder charge weights first, seating depths next, perhaps primer choices as well but start with Tula/Wolf primers. Lapua brass will last longer and handle near-max pressures a tad better. Consider outside turning of the necks for uniform neck wall thickness. Bushing type sizing dies will give you control over neck tension (.001" less than a measured neck diameter for single loading, .003" for those loaded from a magazine), inline seating dies will help assure good concentricity of loaded bullets.
