newbie 6br build on a weatherby

Newbie 6mmBR question.
I just picked up a weatherby vanguard in 6mmBR. It was only 600 aussie dollars with 100 lapua unprimed brass and RCBS 3 piece die set. I have a Weaver Grand Slam silver 6-20x40 to go on her. My questions are:

1. Has anybody built a 6br on a weatherby action? I dont want a full BR rifle but one that I can compete in a few local varmit matches and still take out hunting.

2. What rings/bases are the most appropriate?

3. I was thinking of grabbing a 2nd hand HV 6mmppc barrel and having it threaded for the weatherby and chambered to 6br? thoughts?

4. If getting a new barrel what length and twist, I would like to able to stabalise the 100+ grain HPBT matchkings etc for 500m fly shoots every now and then.

thanks for your help

cheers

I personally have never seen a 6BR built on a Wetherby action. They are not a popular choice for precision/competition rifles. They'll work and some may work quite well, but they have issues with their triggers and lug design that make them unpopular.

Rings & bases... you'll never go wrong with Ken Farrell

6PPC is generally a loose twist and many are .237 bores. It would be good for lighter bullets. Since you asked for my thoughts, I'd simply build another gun. I am not a fan of the weatherby actions for single shot precision rifles. Consider buying a Remington XR100 and rebarrel for 6BR/6ppc or even a Savage LRPV

for 100gr. + bullets 1:8 twist
