I read in one of the Benchrest magazine "long time back" The statement was made in print the .222 record of .009 would never be replaced in the record books because in order to supplant the existing record it has to be better by .009. Fact or vapor trail? LT

That would be odd, you can't better some ones group unless it is by this amount!

Vapor trail. To change a group measurement following a protest, during a tournament, the .009" is the difference required - between the scorer's measurement, and that of the referees - to make the change. When it comes to records, there is no stipulation regarding size differences between individual group or, aggregate records. Via averaging, therefore, even a 0.0001" smaller number would reduce the record. Keep Em' ON the X! RG

Mike shoots 1,000's of rounds a year... I have sat on the bench right next to him several times, and he has rattled off 5 shots down range in a matter of 2-3 seconds, and the groups have measured in the .1's
The guy can flat shoot. His wind reading abilities are mind blowing. When he gets the right condition, he is fast. REALLY FAST....

I have no doubt that he is one of the best there is. But I will bet HUGE piles of cash that he can't get 5 shots down range in 2 to 3 seconds!!!! Not unless they changed the rules of the game.

Thank you to all the guys that have corrected me. I appreciate all the PM's telling me I am wrong.

When I said I have seen him put 5 shots down range in a matter or 2-3 seconds... I should have choosen my words more caefully. He does put them down range very fast (hows that?).

I was told by a reliable source that the barrel he used had 3000 rnds down it!!! Let's hear it for the 30 cal !!

Congratulations, Mike. I know that is a great feeling of accomplishment for you. Enjoy your record. They are hard to come by.

I was around shooting short-range bench rest when the .009 record was shot. It has stood for a long time, and I feel sure yours will be around even longer.
