new vartarg shooter

I am a new vartarg shooter,need some load data,for 32 and 40 gr v-max's.iv'e tried Lil-gun with limited success,best luck with H-4198,any help would be great,it's a great little cartridge.

This is where I got my loading information for the Vartarg. First load I tried shot great so I didnt try anything else.

Well Rick, as for VT powders, RL-7 is my all-time favorite for 32gr bullets, closely followed by H4198. You'll also want to try A2200 as all three have almost the exact same burn rate and all have given me accuracy with any 32gr bullet that averages right around .25" in my Cooper M38 VR.

Here's some typical targets shot with both the 32gr NBT (Nosler Ballistic Tip) and the 32gr NVG (Nosler Varmageddon) over RL-7. Typical charge weight for the VT with any of the three powders listed is right around 18.0 grs.



I don't shoot the 40's in my VT, figuring it gives it's best performance with 32 grain bullets. If I want to shoot the 39gr SBK or any of the 40 grain offerings, I reach for one of my 204R's.

Good luck with that 20VT......I think you'll find that it's the most "fun" rifle in your safe. I know I did.

Have to agree with Rick in Oregon...RL7, AA2200 and 4198...if it won't shoot with any one of or all 3 of those then it probably isn't gonna shoot. Absolutely the most fun rifle/cartridge I have used prairie doggin.

mine likes 32 vmax 18 grains 4198 shoots in the .3s 3700 fps

Try the 18.5 gr. Rel 7 load with your 32 gr V-Maxs. It's a shooter.

Groups 2-4 are all 18.5 grains of Reloder 7 with 32 grain V-Maxs. All in the 2s on my way to the 1s in groups after this target. I don't know what type of rifle you have so work up to this load keeping an eye out for signs of pressure. It's not a hot load in my rifle though.
