I have had my new .22 x 47 Lapua to the range twice. It is built on a Wichita rblp that has been Nickled over a fine sand blast. The barrel is a Broughton 5C finished at 29" with a big old muzzle break. The reamer was done by Dave Kiff using his Lapua chamber prints.
The load is 40.0 gns. of H-4350 with a Hornady 80gn. A-max.
The vel. is 3535 fps. with a E.S. of 6.
I have a lot more load testing to do as the bolt was a little stiff on opening. QuickLoad predicted the pressure to be in the
57,000 psi. range. I'm not convinced it's that low at this time.
The groups have been in the 3's at 100, But I've realy enjoyed blowing off those little metallic varmints at 600.
Well, more load development to do. Need more vel, less pressure.
John
P.S. The nickle case on the end was formed from a Federal .308
it has been fired 3 times and may be my best case. I only did it because a older clerk at the gun store said it could not be done.
