Folks, we have a new to us Rem 40X chambered in 6.5x47, no turn chamber, unsure of the freebore but its a bunch. Lilja 8 twist finished at 26" We would like to shoot 130 vld bullets. I have Lapua brass and good primers. The research I have done it seems to be that Varget and H4350 seem to be the go to powders. Would any of you be willing to offer up what works for you? any advice is appreciated.

With a typical 140 grain SMK, I will hit compression volume somewhere just above 40 grains with H4350 plus or minus your seating depth habits.
It is almost hard to get into trouble with that.
With a typical 130 VLD and Varget, you will have some space in the case left over and will allow you to explore a little higher pressure and speed.

No worries with Varget, H4350, (N550 and many others). 6.5x47 is very easy to develop and tune.

If you have H-4350 or RL-16 then don't look much farther. Otherwise it's all about powder availability. Anything from H-4895/Varget burn rate to H-4350/RL-16 will work with 130 gr VLD.

If I had to pick a few powders I'd go with...

#1 - RL-16
#2 - H-4350 & N-550
#3 - N-150

Since there are many powders that will work,.. once you narrow down what powders you want to use, then folks will have a better idea about sharing their load data.

You can always look at the AccurateShooter's Cartridge Guide for the 6.5x47

I've shot a lot of 6.5x47L over the years. One of my favorite cartridges.

I shoot a lot of Varget in mine as well but never with the 130 VLD specifically.
