New to reloading what is a fair price for an 8 lb jug of varget

Think all those responses are full of "prune juice". There is no availability of Varget anywhere except at my local gun club, Manatee. There the club president sells components. 8 # of Varget is $275 plus tax. He is selling the stuff too.

Does that includes this years dues in that price..?

At our range, when they have powder, they have it at a good price and they give members a discount.

You folks need to heat up some tar and collect some feathers.

Use Powder Valley's price(s) as a fair/good benchmark. :)

Can't go off PV's price if it's not in stock. I guess if every business could model PV, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

I seen it for sale at the last gun show for $200.00 I got 2 of 8# H4350 for $400.00 . No prune juice needed. Larry

I don't understand why shooters are so bent on varget. Yes, it's a great loader friendly powder, but from my testing experience there is plenty of great substitutions as well. All last year while Varg was non existiant I tested several comprable burn powders such as Win 748, 4064 , 2000MR and 8208xbr and found some excellent shooting recipies with each. No matter what powder becomes scarce I have a trusted and accurate load all set to go to keep me shooting ! ;)

I am a newbie varget in General gets solid reviews. The range I shoot at has really big stack of it if anyone is looking just pm me.

I think your club president is taking you guys for a ride. You should consider filing a complaint with the state attorney for price gauging. Regarding prune juice, here's my store's inventory that I received today. The Varget is $164.50 + tax = $178.07
