New to reloading - suggestions

I use to reload when I was young but work and kids have kept me away for years now. I am looking to start back with it and would like suggestions on equipment. Are any of the brands better and more adaptable than others or are they all about the same?

Bean,

It all depends on how much you want to spend. Entry level Rock Chucker kit from RCBS is relatively inexpensive. If you want to go the custom powder measure, dies etc. you need deeper pockets.
How involved do you want to get, and how much do you want to spend?

Life has taught me that in most things it is not wise to start cheap. I just want to make sure that I don't get into this and then have to start all over to be able to grow if i choose to. I had the RockChucker 25+ years ago and it worked fine but I was just lighting up brass at the time being a teenager.

I don't mind spending a bit more to have quality but there is also generally a point when you are just spending more money. I would like to find the point where those two lines cross.

Bean, assuming you want to load for 6BR, here's a short list geared toward quality.

1. RCBS Rockchuker - still perfect after all these years.
2. Dillon mechanical scale - even if you have an electronic.
3. Denver Instruments electronic scale
4. Hornady Full Length die set for 6BR.
5. Redding Type S Full Length die, Neck die and Competition Seater
6. Redding .268 .267 and .266 bushings,assuming unturned brass).
7. RCBS #3 shellholder
8. Redding 3BR Powder Measure
9. RCBS or Redding powder trickler
10. Imperial Size Die Wax,for case lubing)
11. Stoney Point OAL tool and 6BR case
12. Sinclair "hex nut" OAL comparator
13. Quality 6" caliper, various brands useful, Mitutoyo always a good choice
14. Sinclair/Wilson case trimmer
15. Krazy Kloth for cleaning case necks
16. Sinclair priming tool.
17. At least 100 other things I can't think of but the above will get you started.

Bean,
Call Sinclair International and get a copy of their handloading handbook. I don't recall the exact name but it is the one written by Gravatt and Fred Sinclair; any of their tech's will know what you're referring to. It is an excellent handbook that will take you through every step of the reloading process and answer many questions. Once you've digested the info. in that book, you'll be well on your way.
