I went to a gun auction last week picked up a kelbly panda in 6ppc. Has a 36T weaver on it. It's a 262nk. I'm thinking about having it opened up to 268nk for less neck turning. i don't shoot benchrest just shoot for fun always wanted a kelbly and the price was right for me. Should I Leave it alone shoot it as is. Or see if the bolt can be opened up make it a 6br. Just looking for so insight and thoughts on it.

One more thing. Kelbly's will open that bolt face for a fair price if you so desire. I contacted them last year about this and it was less than $100 if I remember correctly.

I see you are from Ohio so Kelbly's is close.... Look at the throat with a bore scope and you will know the facts, you may have a fire form barrel, did they say how many rounds was down the pipe? if it is fact a fire form barrel I would get the neck opened to no turn, makes it easy to fire forum then turn as needed, I also ff. with Clays powder and modeling clay, then expand and neck turn. you will have some fun with it..... one other thing the right port looks small or is that a reflection? if it is right bolt and left port and no ejector? Is it a glue in?... jim

Why change, at least not until you have given this rifle a reasonable test. I don't know anything about the 6 BR cartridge, but won't you have to re-chamber it as well? I just bought a used Kelby/Panda, 6 PPC in August. I can't believe the accuracy of this rifle from the beginning groups. It is the best 100 to 300 yard shooter I have ever seen. Have the necks turned and go to the range and amaze everyone. Here's a photo of my target my last trip to the range. Believe me this is the norm.

It's a right bolt left port action. They did not say how many round have been shot through it. I am planning on trying 68gr bergers with LT32. For now that's all I have

I have been shooting 65 gr Allie Euber, Mollie coated bullets behind 29.5 grs of v133. Bullets are set to a few thousands into the lands, which allows the final seating to be set when you close the bolt. I recently bought some LT32, but not sure how much powder I should start at. Need to get the calculator out and try to duplicate the muzzle velocity of the v133. I tried both 65 and 68 burgers but they do not match the Huber bullets. Since Huber recently passed away, they will no longer be available but I do know where there is a good supply of them and am going to get them soon.

Edited to change the powder charge.

I would buy some turned brass from DJ’s brass and shoot it. That saves you buying a neck turning set up. If the barrel doesn’t shoot or is cooked, have the new barrel cut for a no turn or light turn. I bought a couple used 6ppc guns. They make most of my other guns look bad! Good luck.;)

39.5gr of N133 sounds a bit much for that case..... is that a typo?? WD

Buy turned brass. try it. If it shoots, buy more turned brass. If it doesn't, rebarrel it.

That is the fastest, cheapest easiest way to go. You have to determine if it will shoot. Don't toss money in machining into an unknown barrel PLUS new brass. Get a few brass that are right for it, test. Then decide. If it shoots (and I were you) I would then buy more brass. If it doesn't, you are only out a few brass.

Check with cleaning rod to see if it is a 13.5 or a 14 twist, you are going to need a bore guide for it first. You don't want to ruin the throat.... jim
