New to 6mmbrx

Hi Gang,
I just bought a 6mm brx off the classifieds here, and this will be my first "real" benchrest rifle,I have a customized .308 that I've used benchrest techniques on)

Anyway, this rifle will almost always be used at 100 yds,I know I probably would have been better of with a plain BR but..)

Can anywon recommend a GOOD Varget based load? I have a recommended RL 15 load, but as I almost always shoot Varget in my 308, it would make life simple

As always every gun is different but you can start with the 6 BR load and ladder test up. Generally a 31-33 grain load will be possible and pick the best accuracy. Try that 6BRX at 600 and 1000 yds, with a 105gr bullet if your twist will allow it,1 in 8") and you will love it. Good shooting

For 100 yards, get some Berger 80gr flatbase. Start .010-.015 into the lands, beyond first touch), and work up from 30.5 Varget. You'll probably end up near a full case.

Note: as the BRX has a short neck, depending on the freebore of your chamber, you may not be able to get the 80 very far into the lands. Rule of thumb, if you still have .180 or so of bearing surface, shank) in the neck, you should be OK.

You can always shoot a longer, heavier bullet, but for 100 yards the 80 Bergers should yield outstanding accuracy. Bugholes with a good barrel.

Perfect - that starting load and bullet info is what I needed

FYI I'm the guy who bought the BRX rhat EdwinG had for sale

I hate living where I do - at least 90 minutes to a range
