I am receiving my new rifle this week Savage F Class 1:8 30" and am going to buy a box of ammo to get started. I am going to buy Lapua (nice brass). With this round where is the trade off point between the 90 and 105 gr bullets. I would think it is like the 223 (my other target savage) 77 80 gr out to 3 -4 hundred and 90 gr further out with less wind sustability.

thanks

you are getting a very good: first rifle:
this rifel got me into all kinds of trouble in that it got me addicted to precision shooting. after using it in several matches i got the fever and went to a custom rifle.

when work up this rifle and get the proper load for it, it will be a great shooter.

i have the exact rifle you are getting:
I have great result with this rifle using berger 105 gr VLD target bullets over varget powder jammed at about 0.010,
load well and do your part and the rifle should be a great shooter.

enjoy your new toy

I find 107gr sierra matchking the best the powder is reloader 15 at 30.5 and lapua brass

thanks for the recommendation.

I see many people loading and discussing very light bullets in the 50 gr range. are these people just shooting 100 - 200 yds?
