New to 30BR 2

I was reading how to form 30BR on the site and I am looking for recommendations on either the mandrel resizing method or the Redding expander button? If I were to do the Redding Expander button, which die should I use? See below article.

"The 30BR cartridge is formed by necking-up 6BR or 7BR brass. You can do this in multiple stages or in one pass. Most of the top shooters prefer the single-pass method. You can use either an expander mandrel (like Joe Entrekin does), or a tapered button in a regular dies. Personally, I use a Redding tapered expander button, part number 16307. This expands the necks from 6mm to .30 cal in one pass. It works well as long as you lube the mandrel and the inside of the necks. I've also used the Sinclair expander body with a succession of larger mandrels, but this is a lot more work and the necks stay straighter with the Redding tapered button. This button can be used in any Redding die that has a large enough inside diameter to accept the BR case without any case-to-die contact.

When I ordered my 30BR necksizing die set from Redding, it came with an expander type button. Much longer than a regular neck button. I just put a little sizing wax in the cartridge neck and ran them through the die. I did turn them 180 degrees and did a second pass just for the heck of it. No split necks. The die set came with neck die, body die and seating die.

For consistency, consistency and more consistency, use an expander mandrel and a turner pilot made by the same manufacturer. It's much simpler and very very effective. Because the mandrel and pilot are made to work together the end result is measurable to within 2/10,000" [.0002"] if the turning is done properly.

The expander button was never designed to be used as a complimentary turning tool.

The Redding #16307 referenced in the article is a tapered sizing button designed to expand necks to a particular caliber.

There are lots of ways to accomplish this..this is just one of them. More important is to have a good fit between the expanded neck and the turning mandrel of your neck turning tool. No matter how you expand the necks, the case necks will have some taper due to the varying thickness of the now-.30 cal. neck. Much of the issues with mandrel fit are due to this taper.

This was super helpful.
