New Tikka Rifle

Guys,


I have a friend selling a new .22-250 TIKKA rifle.....

Here are two questions for you..

It is a 1 and 14 twist, what weight bullets would be best in this twist.



Do you like or dislike Tikkas's

Well I can definately say that I love Tikkas, I have a T3 .243 and I absolutely love it. It can be accurized pretty well, but as for the bullets...I would say that custom loaded 46 grains. I've had limited experience with 22-250s but my friend reloads them and says that 46 grains work great for his Tikka. But again don't use my word on it as I am pretty new to the whole shooting game but I know my bullet ballistics.

75 gr will be about your max. However, do know of some who have shot 80 grain FB Fowlers out of a 14 twist very well at 600 in a 6BR.

I own a T-3 Varmint 22-250. It's kinda my truck gun, but I use it for coyotes and varmints. I haven't shot anything over 52 grains in this rifle, it groups the Sierra matchkings the best w/H-380. I wished it had a 1-8" for the 75 grain bullets!

I was just talking to a Sierra tech and he told me that a 1-14 twist will stableize sierra 40-63 gr varminter but not the 55 grain blitzking in a 22-250. The blitzking was too long for it. On the Nosler site, some people claim that they can stableize more, but I'd say that is unlikely.
