T, congress is to busy trying to push thru a $4500/yr. raise for themselves. They don`t have time for regular people problems. All kinds of calls. I get calls from support at Microsoft. I tell them I have a Mac. The IRS is issuing a warrant for my arrest. I told them to be sure and wear Kevlar underwear. I get them in email too. Sometimes the message is a screen capture of the original site (no actual text) and is linked someplace if you click on it. Always check properties and see where it actually came from. Bank account problems, Amazon, Ebay, credit cards issues, the FBI, from people in your email list, and anything to prompt you to answer. If you think it's legit, hang up and call the real number that you looked up. Free alarm systems. I told them I have a 12 gauge alarm system that has never failed me yet. Even if it's real, do you want some strangers casing your house out and know everything you have? I also won free vacations. I told them to give it to someone else because I've already won 6 vacations this month and don't have time to take them all. I hope congress can do something about all these robo calls.
Blocking numbers is becoming futile as the robo/scam callers use programs to hide theirs and emulate one that appears to be local (same area code and prefix).
I have received numerous calls very similar to this one from claiming to be from Amazon and that my prime account is going to be charged $99.00 and that I need to call them immediately. Didn't even say anything about a purchase being made. I know it's a scam as I don't have their prime account. I just block the number but the calls still came in just using a different number.I answered a call today. The robo voice said: “Your Amazon account has just been charged $77.49 for an order. If you made this purchase, press one. If you did not make this purchase, call 206-462-4183 immediately. I hung up and asked my wife if she bought anything. She said no so I got on Amazon and sent them a message. A minute later, my phone rang and it was a rep from Amazon. I explained what happened and gave him the number. He said that Amazon NEVER calls customers and that the call was a scam to try to get my account info.
Watch out, everybody! I almost called the number but a little paranoia stopped me.
Heck, I’ve received emails from myself!I’ve even received calls from myself, didn’t know I was that smart.
I send E-mails to myself.Heck, I’ve received emails from myself!
New phone # won't help you at all. Save your energy.I get 3-5 each day and ignore them all. I block every single one and I keep getting more. Very close to getting a new phone number or throwing it out all together.
I like the part where Amazon called you to tell you they never call customers.A minute later, my phone rang and it was a rep from Amazon. I explained what happened and gave him the number. He said that Amazon NEVER calls customers and that the call was a scam to try to get my account info.
