New RPR 300 PRC

I did it. My RPR is on the way. In 300 PRC. I have a shelf of really great bullets that I don’t want to waste on a 300 Win Mag that is just temperamental . It is going to be a Gen 3. I was thinking on a Gen 4 but I found a smokin deal on this clearance item on BassPro. And it will give me the correct shipping carton so I can send my 338 RPR back to Ruger. Stock on that one is cockeyed. Does not really hurt accuracy or anything but it’s not right.

I am going to change the stock on it. I have a OD green Magpul PRS light sitting on the shelf. I am going to replace the grip with a Magpul model the same as on the Gen 4s I like that one better. And as cool as the tank brake is, it has to come off so I can run my can.

Not sure on a scope yet.

Exciting times over here!

Congrats on the new stick.

Anarchy had a sale on the Gen 4 stocks. I bought one for my 6.5 PRC and think it's a significant upgrade over the earlier model. I don't really have a problem with the old ones though

Shot this one to just under a mile Tuesday. I think it'll be the end of the line for the factory 300 PRC barrel. It still has some life in it, but I bought it to rebarrel into 7/300PRC and it's time. I've been caught up in testing it against dedicated ELR rifles, including my own, and it's surprising how well it's done. Yes, it gives up points and distance to dedicated rifles, but not nearly what most think.

Started with it stock with a Gen 1 Razor. This is the final configuration. Pretty much everything I do to my dedicated ELR rifles except the barrel.

The all black color scheme, oversize original angle grip and pic rail hung on the integral arca give its owners advanced age away. The far front bubble mount is also a clue about the state of my eyesight.

Gen 3 Razor in a 20 moa Vortex mount on the 30 moa Ruger rail. Vortex level. Long Shot Precision bagrider. Limbsaver recoil pad raised an inch with a 1.5" steel barstock weight. The bar is inleted 7/8" over the bagrider hardware to reduce lengthening the pull any more than necessary. I like the stock longer but single feeding is easier with it shorter. Long pic rail under forend for bipod location flexibility. Ruger supplied pic on top for Nightforce Wedge. Never used the Wedge with this gun but it's how I have my others set up. Gen 2 FB brake.

Shot 230 ATips and used mostly Hornady brass. The Hornady brass did well if I respected its pressure limits. ADG was a couple steps up in both pressure handling and consistency. I just hated to run it in a factory chamber. My first box of 300 PRC Lapua manufactured brass was a serious disappointment in the consistency department. Mine preferred H4831SC to H1000. The 230s seemed to run best in the 2820-2840 fps range with that powder. I loaded to mag length but single fed at distance.

So you can change a stock but not straighten one out? ;-)
