New Rifle!

I just bought a factory new rifle ...serious quality. Solid. Accurate. Real craftsmanship. $2,500

I'd say comparable in quality to your good looking rifle above. So I got to wondering.... what your gun cost in 1953 compared to current prices, and what it would cost today. Did they just build better guns cheaper back then?

Went to the Bureau of Labor statistics adjustment for inflation. My $2,500 rifle today would have cost $267 in 1953.... wondering if that's what your Marlin would have sold for new in 1953... ???

Good question.
This is a mass produced rifle.
Yours prob has the benefit of new tech.
this one has alotta tooling "swirls".
I'd won't wager a price, but bet it was very reasonable.
Poster pic attached.
the trigger is - amazing! no creep, light for a hunting rifle. really.
The bolt "slop" / play in the receiver is - minimal.
not bragging. just kinda amazed.
mind you, I've not shot it.
