New Rifle Build....need help with magazine selection.

Nope, it shouldn't matter at all. If the feed lips are correct the tip of the bullet will touch the feed ramp above the notch as it slides forward when being chambered. I notch all of mine when going through the action regardless of which magazine I may use.

Here’s a few photos of various magazines and two action cuts. All of them are short action AICS pattern mags. Remington 700 and BAT Igniter notches.

Picked up my barreled action today. My gunsmith new exactly what you were describing.

I'm well on my way now.

Want to thank everyone for the help and do a follow up on my thread.

Picked up my rifle from the gunsmith yesterday. I got it all cleaned up and bedded into the chassis. While waiting for my rifle , I bought a few Magpul 10rd. AICS mags and MDT 10rd. no blinder plate mags.

After work today I grabbed a box of factory ammo so I could function test my rifle and try out the mags. Both mags worked great and feed smooth.

I call this my "Old School Build" and consider myself very lucky to have a rifle built by this Gentleman.....83 years young and still going. I snuck in on him one day and got a picture of him in action. Turns out he was working on my rifle!
