New Reloading Bullets

Sign the Petition with the link below. (I will be sending it to Sierra, Hornady, Barnes Bullets, Nosler, Berger, and Lapua.)

http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/a-modern-311-bullet-with-higher-bc-and-weight

Petition A modern .311 bullet with higher BC and weight variations are needed.

The .311 diameter bullet is a wonderful bullet that has been around for over a hundred years at least. But just as long as the bullet is old it has not been updated much along the way. A revitalization of this bullet is needed for Long Range Hunters, Target Shooters, and Competition Shooting. The .308 has such a wide selection of bullet choices. But the .311 has maybe two or three choices from a few companies.

This petition is for more bullet manufactures to create a increase in choices for the .311 bullets in their current lineup or even for the first time offerings to owners of these fine rifles. Companies like Hornady, Sierra, and Barnes Bullets have a selection but its still very limited. We need more companies to carry them such as Nosler, Berger Bullets, and Lapua.

This is not a uncommon round and is used around the world in many guns such as the Mosin Nagant, Lee Enfield, AK47, SKS, Arisaka, Vepr, Dragunov, PSL rifle, etc.

The bullet weights and BC that would be nice to have designed will be listed below.

*195gr & 640 BC

*200gr & 700 BC

*240gr & 770 BC

They need to be designed with these things in mind below.

*Long Range Hunters that will hunt (Deer, Elk, Moose, Bear, etc.)

*Target Shooters

*Competition Shooters

Example of options offered should be ballistic tip, Bonding the Jacket the the Lead Core, Boat Tail, Hollow Point, All Copper.

Bullets are hard enough to get in these Obama Times...... let alone if they gear up for another caliber, that would take away.
Sorry, but I want more of the bullets for the existing calibers that are in demand.

Just my 2-cents

+1 After I see Hornady 105 AMax and Berger 105 Hybrids on the shelves in quantity, then they can think about obscure calibers.

Never has been high BC bullets for that bore. Not like it was an unexpected surprise. You want to shoot long range with bullets designed for it, shoot the appropriate caliber.

Well for one thing, take the 7.62x39 (your AK/SKS) the 208 gr A-Max is longer than the case and the ogive is WELL past (deeper) the case mouth (actually past the neck/shoulder junction) when MAX mag length is reached (no seal). You might get a couple grains of powder in the case but whats the point if there's no seal. The 7.62x 54/53 isn't going to do well with long bullets either because of magazine length. IMHO none of the cartridges listed would be good for LONG RANGE BEAR, DEER, ELK,MOOSE. The 7.62x54/53 is only in the 30-06 class, hunting class ..yes, Long Range Hunting class NO.

What Donovan said... times 10!

We cannot get common bullets - the companies have stopped production of a lot of popular bullets... and you want to petition them to start a new bullet for a minority bore size??

Get real, it will never happen, even in good times.

Build your own? simple solution

What he said, +10.

Making your own bullets is not rocket science, and can be done on a hobbyist's budget.

Perhaps rather than petition the companies to do so, place an order for a million of them, and sell them to like minded enthusiasts. As they say, money talks...

+1 If you order a million bullets and start winning fake wood with them you will have the market cornered for at least 6 months and all the salivating .311 shooters will have to buy them from you.

Holy Land, team up with Grimstod. He's building super accurate Mosin rifles for competition. Between the 2 of you, you should generate a market for those bullets.

My thoughts exactly!

One problem with this is how many quality barrel makers make a .311 barrel? It is a catch 22, if the barrel makers started making .311 barrel, then the bullet maker would be more receptive in looking to build the bullets, and vise versa.

I you really want to shoot lr with a mosin, you are gonna have to rebarrel anyways right? So why don't you just order a reamer so you can run a norm bullet like a 308 instead of the goofy .311. Then you can get any barrel or bullet you want.

How about some high bc .323 caliber bullets

The 8mms are long dead and gone my friend. No bringing them back now that the 33's are King. The 325 WSM made a decent run at bringing the 8's back to life but ultimately failed.

I know there are some folks out there that would like to see some higher BC bullets in 35 cal. Myself included. But probably not gonna happen anytime soon, if ever. So when I need to stretch a shot out there a ways, I just go to the 6.5 or big 33 in the safe.
