new reamer smaller than die

I bought a new reamer to re-chamber my son's rifle and my own
which was already 6mmbr rem. Now I find that my redding body
die is bigger than my new chamber.
In the books it says that the base should measure .470 and my
new chambers are measuring .470 but my body die measures .472
and will not make the brass small enough.
Any suggestions?

Or just send a 3x fired case to Harrell's and get one of these:

I'm not sure if you guys will agree but what I ended up doing
was I slipped a .001" shim down on the one side of the reamer
which covered two flutes. To finish this way I just reamed by hand until the reamer stopped cutting. After this process the chamber measured .4715-.4720 and my sized brass will now fit
into the new chamber.
Does anyone think there will be any ill affects from this. I plan to test fire the rifle this weekend and measure my cases.
I am interested to see if the neck portion of the chamber is
bigger than I would like.
opinions welcome.

I'd say that the chances of you now having a perfectly round chamber is slim to none. I don't even want to think what you did to the neck and throat.

I understand your concerns which is why I will take measueaments of the fired brass to ckeck for size and roundness. If I am unhappy with the results I have no problem cutting off and rechambering. Remember, it was a .001" shim and it took 10-20
revolutions with the reamer to clean up.

The case wall of a 6mmBR is tapered. If your die is not tight enough why not knock off about .003-.005 of your die in a lathe. Then screw back into your press and see if it reached the point where your die has a smaller ID and resizes your brass. If not turn off another .003-.005 and check it again. Repeat the process as needed. You have about .050 of web that does not size because it is solid. Die makers don't know the thickness of shell holder you are going to use and they would rather make them on the long side than the short side.

Alright now... The results are in. I loaded 15 rounds with bullets into the lands for proper fire forming.
So many things going through my head that I forgot my front rest
at home and had to use my tool box instead.Just a little heads up, tool boxes don't make good rests. I shot three 3 shot groups at 100 yds. The size of the groups measured: .25, .39 & .52. Not bad considering the tool box thing.
Now, back at the loading bench to measure the fired cases.
I could not find any measurable out of roundness in any of the cases.,I was not expecting any) The base of the cases measured
.4715 at .200 from bolt face. The shoulder dia. measured .4615.
The base of the neck was .2720 and end of the neck was .2700.
The biggest change in size was the case dia. at the shoulder.
It measures .4575 after sizing and opens up to .4615 after fire forming.
Short term... this will work.
Long term... I need new brass, a better sizing die & to rechamber.,without the shim)
