New Project rifle

Has anyone had any experiences with rifles based on a Howa or Tikka action?

I'm starting a new project with either a 6.5x47, 6.5-284, or a 6.5x55 Swede so at the moment i'm looking around for a seond hand rifle to base a project on.

Remingtons in New Zealand aren't always easy to come across in good condition for a project rifle and even when you do see them, for a little more you can have a brand new Tikka T3 for that money.

So guys, what are your thoughts and opinions whether you know someone who has one or whther you have one yourself or do you recommend something else as an alternative?

Howa actions are very good to build on, actualy I feel they are a little better built than the rem's,theyhave a one piece bolt, a great extractor,M-16 style) and the reciever is a good buit more rigid and has a great lug and bottom for a good bedding job. the only trouble is that they are metric threaded so your smith will have to remember that when he fit up the barrel

I incrementally overloaded a 270 Howa and a pre 64 M70 270 and a Ruger #1 270 until they all jammed.

The Howa went from easy bolt lift to needing the bolt handle pounded on 20 times to get open with just a one grain increase in powder. The other two rifles seemed to have a lower gear ratio for opening the action and extracting swollen brass.
