New powders from IMR in Dasher?

SHall

The new temperature insensitive Enduron powders from IMR have got my attention. Anyone know from experience how IMR 4166 would work in the Dasher, 8208 has been out for a while and I know some people have used it. How are they working compared to the old standbys? R-15, Varget, N203B, H4895? I am talking about the 6 Dasher shooting long distance, 600-1000 yards with long VLD type bullets, 103-108 grains. No theories, just real experience.

Hi Sam,,,I am a poor one to give you advice ,,hahah,,,but,,,I use aprox the same charge wt of 4451 as Rx-15 ,,,,(same as 4895) the 4166 is more like H-322 and is (IMHO) too fast for the 105 class bullets ,,,,I have used them both,,,,I bet you can really get this stuff to work in your rifle,,,Im shure the keyboard shooters will have lots of contradictory advice ,,wink,,,Roger
PS,,Sam....Im not getting rid of my Rx-15 or vita-vori blends,,,!!!!

You have heard of the 4007 powder recall . It a Important one . ASAP add water to can and pull ammo and do the same . Please read the directions for the immediate proper way to neutralize .

I am disposing of my 4007 powder 30-40gr at a time (depending on cal and bullet wt ),,,,it is not an Enduron powder like Sam was asking about,,,,Roger

As long as your 4007 powder is not on the recall I would dispose of it the same way . However if it is your homeowners ins will not cover you now .

This is what I have so far, I shot a side by side round robin ladder test at 1k in my Dasher with IMR 4166 and 105 vlds. My charges were 31.9 up to 34.0 in .3 increments. My target showed that none of the charges showed any accuracy nodes. They were strung out from low to high. ES was impressive however. By looking at my chrono data it showed accuracy at 33.7 and 34. My velocities at 31.9 was 2950 and 34.0 was 3110. I was just starting to see pressure at 34 with primers starting to flatten. Its a tad slower than RL 15, I have the identical ladder test set up to shoot again, just waiting for a calm day to shoot it. 8)

Here you go Sam a short test I did before I got to shooting matches this year. I plan on picking back up where I left off and test again.

Got 3020 fps out of 32.9 gr. 4166 with a 105 Berger. Get 3020 out of 33.5 gr. Varget with the same bullet. Great ES with the 4166. Same impact point at 1,000 yards as the Varget load. Just could not find the right load with 4166 or tuner setting to match the Varget so I gave up.

Noted that it seemed to be as dirty as Varget.
