New Powder Throwing System: Ingenuity Precision

Right, and if it isn't there, it will leave that $5-$800 price point open for the next greatest thing. All that said it is an awesome setup!
I think the next greatest thing is something that does exactly what the IP does, but cheaper. If Paul is making a mistake, it is in not containing the manufacturing and materials costs. Maybe he's playing like Elon and overpricing for the eager early adopters....who knows...but....

....there is a law of diminishing returns and when you have 7-8 second drops with >99% accuracy, there's not a lot of juice left no matter how hard you squeeze.

Hiw website isn't displaying any shipping options to order anything. I've used my phone, laptop, and ipad.

Yeah, the option to use 3 different scales at 3 wildly different price points is a "game changer" too.

I agree that the ability to use the A&D and the Sartorious with the same hardware is nice.....but the creedmoor scale?

Can someone explain to me why you would spend $1000 on a powder dispenser and then buy the $300 Creedmoor scale that will result in throws that are at least twice as slow as the other two?

Sure, its $1350 vs $1600...but it seems silly to hamstring the performance with that scale.

Penny wise and pound foolish I think...

But some guys are not willing to give up their current gear and like to rationalize reasons to keep it.

I'm like that with my Giraud annealer after I got my AMP - rationalized keeping it to do bulk 223 and 308

Guys, those of us who have been following the threads on the Hide and carefully watching Paul's and John's videos, have very good reason to believe Paul is struggling to keep this thing under $1000, and the 2 prices we have seen right from the horse's mouth are $990 and $995. So there is very little doubt that the whole kit and kaboodle (less plastic shield, which he intends to sell separately, he has explicitly stated) is going to be hundreds of dollars more than BOTH the AT and ST.

BartsBullets, Take your ST into your 40-degree garage and run some H50BMG or H4350 through it, and then come back and tell me how impressed you are with it. You cannot fix a hardware problem (vibrating tube) with a software fix.

I’ve had it outside in 30 degree weather at the Tack Driver reloading with H4895 (for 4 days). No problem just have to know how to adjust it.

That, and I lovelovelove that he's protected himself with patents, BEFORE starting sales.

It's not perfect, but the patents make it harder to go around him.

Course...don't tell that to reloading manufacturers.
What patents do you think he has? I can find none.

I dunno..the ones on his website? I know many things. Where to find patents is not one. :)

In another thread/forum somebody posted Brand Cole’s patents for the PROMETHEUS
Yeah, Brandt does have one on the original prometheus….it has since expired. He also started a patent for the updated prometheus that uses a similar tricker as the IP, but that patent was abandoned in 2016.

Then it would seem to me, then that the idea for the IP was brand Cole’s, and Paul ran with it after the patent expired?
No, there is another patent holder with something much more similar. Not sure if Ingenuity is creating his under license, or not. If your really interested....US Patent 9829295

There may be enough "previous work" known to make the patents UN-enforcable. To me it looks like it's a Dillon casefeed that has been scaled down to work with gunpowder kernels instead of cases. That style feeder has been around for 20+ years.

The gravity dropper may be new enough to get a patent on it. Im sure it is used in other industries already to move powder and grain between different hoppers.....it is different enough to be patentable? I dont know.

It cost a lot of money to bring a lawsuit against someone, and unless you think IP is going to be making hundreds of thousands of dollars off the trickler every year....it probably doesnt matter.

I suspect some competitors will pop up in the next few years. Look at how many rotating/vibrating tube tricklers there are now.

Sure, lawsuits are expensive, but that wouldn't stop me from getting the patent. There is also patent monetization...lets say Hornady or some other company wants this dropper, without the patent it would be impossible to make money selling your product to another company.

What are the odds of something like that happening? Pretty slim I'd say, but why not protect your product if you can?

The criteria for a patent to be granted is that the idea/concept has to be unique, novel, and advance the state-of-the-art…

I'm no patent expert, but on its surface, this product seems to fit that criteria. I've never seen a dropper like it, everything I've seen is scew drive or vibratory.
