I recieved my Omega Auto Trickler yesterday, very welly packaged and all items covered with bubble wrap to easily handle the sometimes not so gentle USPS folks. I put everything together and all seemed a-okay.
I got out some Varget, put a small amount in the hopper to prime the tube per the directions then filled 'er up. I started at 25.0 grains on my 1010, actually dropping about 24.7 give or take on my uniflow then using the Omega. I played with the tube weight back and forth, I could get single rows slowly dropping by sliding the weight to the outward end, but that caused some gaps between kernels or even a couple seconds gap, or I could get double rows and sometimes stacked kernels with the weight up against hopper. There is definitely going to be somewhat of a bit of time learning the fine balance between the tube weight and the hopper rotation on it's stem for different powders, middle of the tube for the weight seemed to work just right.
I threw probably 300 charges of the Varget and my 25.0 target was easy to hit (best I could tell was
+ a kernel) after fiddling around with the hopper rotation and tube weight for about 20 drops . I did find that depending on how fast you have the trickler dropping kernels, will dictate how close to your beam reading you set the eye to automatically kickout.
I next went up to 45.0 grains of Varget (44.7 from the uniflow) and it took about 20 drops to get it nuts on, I think I am definitely going to like this thing. I think the besy way to have the flow, is a nice single row of kernels flowing tightly end to end. Again at this weight, I probably threw 300 or so charges.
Today I needed to load some .243 winchester and I needed 44.0 H4350. Once again, it took about 20 or so drops to get me dialed in. While using the uniflow to get to about 43.7 give or take, then the Omega to get me to my 44.0 target and in no time, I had my 50 rounds charged.
Time will tell, but so far I am happy one camper.
