New Nosler Varmint Bullets

Nosler just introduced an entire line of Flat Base varmint bullets in both tipped and HP configuration, from .17 thru 6mm calibers. These appear to be Ballistic Tips with a flat base, with or without the poly tip.

They had a contest there among the employees, and two of them came up with the same name for the new bullet: "Varmageddon". The website lists the BC's and OAL's for all versions. Check it out:

Can't wait to try the 32 grainers out in my 20 VarTarg and 204's.....:)

Looks exciting and i will have to try some of them out when they arrive to market. I will be curious to see how the 55 gr. flat base and boat tail ballistic tip may differ out of my 22-250.

All some looking bullets can't wait to try them, i bet the varmints will love them too ;) ;)

I've used their 50 and 55 ballistic tips for years with excellent results both in accuracy and terminal performance. Some rifle do prefer flat base bullets so this should be a good addition to their excellent line of varmint bullets.

They look interesting for their bc however the bc, flat base in my experience becomes less desirable beyond 300.

think i will stick with bt in 22-250 but this may be interesing in 221, 222 etc

Need to wait to see the price myself or does anyone know how much Nosler will charge for these new latest greatest bullets. Personally I stopped buying Nosler bullets when they jacked up the prices on ballistic tips, they started a good thing and got greedy. I'll stick with Hornady for varmints, their bullets are cheaper and do the exact same thing.
Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

X10. Big fan of Noslers, BUT..... Dunno back in the 90's they were still packing 100ct in all box of NBT's for $xx.xx, then boom, new 50ct box at same price... No more NBT's for me at that price.. Got lucky tho as a local sporting good store was closing its doors and I walked in at the right time. Walked out with about 2500-3000 various Nosler bullets... Got enough Partitions for life....

Varmint bullets @ 300 or less, Midsouth Varmint Extremes work great for me and the price is right. Varmints farther than 300, Hornady Vmax & Amax.... .

+1 on that, Brother! I like to shoot small groups on paper occaisionally with my varmint rigs, but loading those small flat base bullets is a PITA. I'll stick with the boat-tails until the PD's complain... 8)

BTs are some much easier to load that I doubt i will ever try another FB in a 22 or smaller!

Hornady vmax 55gr do pretty good out of my 22-250. The 40gr were great on hogs, but couldn't reach
the lands. I shot a gr hog in front of my barn last summer, & after I shot I happened to look up on
the shiny siding & thought, what is all over the side of the barn, mud? Not. Just guts. Had to spray it
down with the hose. It was fairly close at 120 yds. Never saw one blow up quite like that.

i am interested in the 17 bullets. i use 20 grain v max in my fireball at the moment. but found some to be very inconsistent
when checking the bullet lengths.

if these nostler 17 heads are anything like the 50's I use in my 22/250. then I will buy some. because there so consistent in there sizes compared to vmax

Hard to beat the 53 grain hornady vmax with bc of .291. No flat bases for me. Cool name though! "Varmageddon" might be too long to fit on a box of 50!!!

I like the BT's also, but after the price hike it's tough to justify. I switched to 50g Speer TNT's in my 222rem. They are flat base shoot tight, and smoke woodchucks.

I use the Nosler BT Lead Free 40 grain .224 in my .223 Remington on a Savage Dual Port Action with Rl-10x. Barrel is a Pac-Nor 1:9" twist polygonal rifling, that shoots in the low .2's for 5 - 10 shots at 100 yards. That's with Winchester brass with only primer pocket uniforming. That's about all I can ask for, its at the limit of my ability. I don't think even Nosler can ask for more. Last Oregon rat shoot, it was just pure devastation on the little buck-toothed critters. At 220 yards even head shots work. These two were a little more messed up on the other side.
